Dragons Are People, Too by Sarah Nicolas Review!

Never judge a dragon
by her human cover...
Sixteen-year-old Kitty Lung has everyone convinced she’s a normal teen—not a secret government operative, not the one charged with protecting the president’s son, and certainly not a were-dragon. The only one she trusts with the truth is her best friend—and secret crush—the über-hot Bulisani Mathe.
Then a junior operative breaks Rule Number One by changing into his dragon form in public—on Kitty’s watch—and suddenly, the world knows. About dragons. About the Draconic Intelligence Command (DIC) Kitty works for. About Kitty herself.
Now the government is hunting down and incarcerating dragons to stop a public panic, and a new shape-shifting enemy has kidnapped the president’s son. Kitty and Bulisani are the last free dragons, wanted by both their allies and their enemies. If they can’t rescue the president’s son and liberate their fellow dragons before getting caught themselves, dragons might never live free again.
I loved the beginning of Dragons Are People, Too, and nothing is more important to me than a great start to a book. From the start we are thrust into action and I liked the main characters from the start. I loved Kitty's personality. She is a mix between a sassy badass who knows how to give orders and a normal teenage girl who has insecurities too. She had me cheering for her from the very beginning, and she never failed to make me laugh or want to pump my fist in the air. I love how dedicated she is to her friends and how even in the most difficult times she is strong but still shows vulnerabilities.
I also love the fact that there is a little romance going on. Although it is slightly one sided in the beginning it seems, it just adds something extra to the story and it makes every action packed moment that much more nerve wracking. I loved the fact that Sani can calm Kitty down when her dragon and anger begin to take over. Those scenes were some of my favorite to read. We got to see the vulnerable side of Kitty and we got to see how good she and Sani are together. The little moments between them just made me melt. The action in this book also adds to the tension between them, which makes for an exciting read.
Speaking of action, this books is filled to the brim with it and I had a blast reading it. This isn't your average YA book where there is some action here and there. No, this book is full on nonstop action, adventure, and covert missions, and it's awesome. Kitty and Sani are forced to do something seemingly impossible and when I was reading every action packed scene I was on the edge of my seat. When Kitty got angry I was right there with her and when those she loved got hurt in the story, I was right behind her in demanding the heads of those who hurt them. As most of you know, I am obsessed with dragons so when I got the chance to read and review this books I literally jumped at the chance...and I was NOT disappointed at all. Basically this book is about Kitty who is a dragon, and she works for a secret organization, which has a hilarious acronym, that is basically a dragon ninja organization. I mean, just from the fact alone, I love it. However, I was surprised when the book exceeded my expectations and took me on a ride I did NOT expect. If this book didn't have dragons in it and Kitty was just a "normal" super spy for a secret organization I would still love it, but the fact that it has dragons in it too? Um, can you say FREAKING AMAZING? The fact that Kitty is a dragon just makes every scene in the book that much cooler and fierce. Not only is this book action packed but also quite funny. I love it when a book can make me laugh out loud and have fun. This book is a great mix of action and humor.
I started reading this book and I couldn't stop. Even when the book was finished I wanted more. That ending had me hungry for the next book. Dragons Are People, Too is full of twists and turns, secret operations, fierce dragons, swoon-worthy romance, and adventure that will keep you entertained at every turn. There isn't one thing that I didn't love about this book. This is definitely going onto my favorites list! I give it five out of five stars!
