All Lined Up by Cora Carmack Review!

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both. Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past. But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again. Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated. Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter. And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel. (Goodreads)

I really liked this book. I was in the mood for a good New Adult novel, and All Lined Up did not disappoint! This is the kind of book that you would read to take your mind off of things for a while. It is very easy to lose yourself in this world that Cora has created. It is extremely entertaining and I was never bored with the story. The things Dallas and Carson get into are just so fun that you wish you could take Dallas’ place. This book is also really emotional, for me anyway. Dallas’ story is so heartfelt and you can practically feel her struggle when you read this book. I just wanted to reach through the book and hug her half the time and Carson is so sweet and protective that you can't help but fall in love with him. The story is also very relatable; the things Dallas and Carson go through are things you can easily see yourself having to deal with. This book also has a really inspiring message about it too. It is also about getting over past hurt and letting yourself love again in spite of your past. I think romance novels are amazing, but even more so if they leave you with a little something to think about. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a book that will make you forget your surroundings for a while and for anyone who just wants to get their hands on a great New Adult novel. Five out of five stars!

The Kiss of Deception by Mary Pearson Review!

A princess must find her place in a reborn world. She flees on her wedding day. She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor's secret collection. She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father. She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan. The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can't abide. Like having to marry someone she's never met to secure a political alliance. Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love. (synopsis taken from Goodreads)

I love books set in times when royals reigned because that makes for a very dramatic and adventure filled book and I was not disappointed with The Kiss of Deception. I was shocked at how quickly I got sucked into the story. It’s full of lying, cheating, fighting, yelling, and all the stuff that makes a book about royals, a book about royals. I loved it. Mary writes in such a way that you are so sure of who is who but you are always wrong when the answer comes to light, it's genius. I loved the vagueness of Kaden and Rafe’s characters; it just makes the story that much more intriguing. Mary’s writing is so descriptive but not excessively so. She gives you just enough to picture it in your head. The way she describes things just makes everything come to life. Her world building skills are spectacular too. She has a way of making a new world seem like one you’ve known about forever. It is truly breathtaking.  My heart and emotions were tied to this book too.  I could feel Lia's emotions. I could feel her happiness, her anger, her hurt, her fear...I felt it like it was my own and that's what makes a book great. Lia is such a powerful main character and she complements this powerful story perfectly. I loved everything about this book to be honest. I wasn't bored for a moment. I questioned everything and made up my own theories which never ended up right, but the fun of reading is coming up with situations and theories that you think will happen. A good book will make you interact with it, and TKoD is that kind of book. It's rare to find a book that floors me, but this book had me in shock and awe at the way the story unfolded. I was speechless half the time after reading a chapter. AND THAT ENDING. Ummm hi, yes. Mary? HOW CAN YOU END IT LIKE THAT?! HOW?! I need the second book ASAP. I need it like yesterday. Please. PRETTY PLEASE. I GOTTA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. IVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK AND I GOTTA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. Needless to say, this book has my heart and emotions wrapped around its little finger. I give it five out of five stars, easily.

Cover Reveal Time! Helia’s Shadow Part One by K.C. Neal!

This cover that was done by Najla Qamber (http://najlaqamberdesigns.com/ ) is wicked! This is K.C. Neal's book Helia's Shadow Part One, which is the first book in the Starlight Age series due to be out this Fall! I love everything about the cover. It looks like an awesome read just based off of the cover. Here is the synopsis for it:

Nineteen years ago, aliens arrived on a dying Earth with advanced technology and the promise of ensuring human survival in exchange for a place to settle. They were hailed as the saviors of humans and Earth.
Today, 16-year-old Helia wants two things in life: to step out of her over-protective mother’s shadow and become an engineer, and to stop hiding her romance with alien boy Kalo. But the world definitely isn’t ready for a human-alien romance. And worse, the human-alien partnership is crumbling. Humans are being arrested without explanation. Some of them are never seen again.
When the alien leader imprisons her mother on a false charge, Helia discovers the aliens never intended to help humans at all. Now, she must join forces with alien rebels and convince the young rebel leader that humans aren’t expendable. If she succeeds, humans have a chance at survival and she has a chance at love. If she fails, the dwindling human race dies out in slavery.

Between by Megan Whitmer Review!

(Synopsis taken from Goodreads)
When a supernatural freak of nature forces her family to separate, seventeen-year-old Charlie Page must turn to her frustrating (yet gorgeous) neighbor, Seth, to help reunite them. Seth whisks Charlie to Ellauria—a magical world filled with the creatures of myths and legends—and tells her of the Fellowship, the group charged with protecting mystical beings from human discovery. (All except Bigfoot: that attention whore is a total lost cause.) But when Charlie learns that she's under the Fellowship's protection herself, well, "stressed" is an understatement. Ellauria should be the safest place for Charlie while the Fellowship works to find her family, but things in the mystical realm aren’t what they seem. Magic is failing, creatures are dying, and the Fellowship insists Charlie holds the key to saving everyone. With her family still missing and the danger in Ellauria growing, Charlie doesn't know who she can trust. She's dealing with a power she never asked for, falling for a guy she can't have, and being forced to choose between her destiny and her heart. And if she chooses wrong, she could destroy magic forever. Charlie may be in over her head.

I didn’t know what to expecting going into Between, but I quickly realized that I would end up loving this book. The world Megan has created is so interesting and magical that I cannot help but love it. I instantly took a liking to the characters because they felt so real to me. The main character, Charlie, is creative and opinionated which fits my personality to a T.I could easily put myself in her shoes and that is really important for me. Sam, Charlie’s brother is goofy and sweet, which makes me instantly like him. Seth, Charlie’s gorgeous neighbor, took a few chapters to get used to but when I did…boy did I crush on him hard. He is the absolute sweetest thing ever, and the relationship between Charlie and him was just so perfect, sweet, magical, and emotional. Megan, why did you have to make me yearn for a man that doesn’t exist?! Anyway, back to the review. This book was a thrill ride full of adventure, mystery, action, love, and hardships. Between has it all. I was kept on the edge of my seat (or bed rather) wondering what in the world would happen next. Megan’s writing is so magical and the storyline is so captivating that I couldn’t help but love this book. The world building was done flawlessly, and the story is always interesting. I loved how Megan wrote about practically every mythical creature that we know of in this book, and that was only a little part of what fascinated me. The idea of a girl controlling all the elements really grabs my attention. This book is the perfect blend of action, adventure, mystery, and heartache. I was shocked at how emotional this book made me. Don’t worry though, you will survive it! I am SO happy with this book. It was amazing, and I haven’t read anything quite like it in a while. I REALLY hope that there will be a sequel. PLEASE LET THERE BE A SEQUEL MEGAN! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loved the Need  series by Carrie Jones and the Wings series by Aprilynne Pike! I think it’s obvious that I give this book five out of five stars!

Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh Review!

(Taken from Goodreads)
A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk… Molly Webster has always followed the rules.      When I had just started to read romance books I had picked up one of Nalini's books and from then on I was hooked on romance books. She is part of the reason why I love them so much. That being said, I absolutely LOVED Rock Addiction. The beginning was very captivating and I knew from the beginning I would love the book. Usually I don't like dual perspectives but for this book it fit perfectly. I loved seeing both of Molly and Fox's POVs because they are both such interesting characters who aren't predictable. Fox's chapter in the beginning was amazing. The way he described Molly was so steamy. I loved it. And Molly's reaction to Fox practically burned up the page. After meeting Fox, I now have a little obsession with guys with lip rings *sigh* I just need a Zachary Fox in my life. I mean he has a dragon tattoo for goodness sake. A DRAGON TATTOO. He is perfect for me. I adore Rock Addiction because it's not just about the "sexy times", it's about a troubled rockstar finding the girl he loves and a girl getting over her past to allow herself to love. This book is also very touching, in my opinion. My heart ached for Molly and Fox at times and books that make you feel that strongly are great books. Also, this book was super sexy. For those of you who don't like romance books, leave now, but anyone who liked Fifty Shades of Grey will love this book. The book also has a very interesting story line. I love the idea of a rockstar meeting a girl and falling hopelessly in love with her, not caring what anyone thinks and being so protective of her. I love that in a book. I must say that when this book ended I was SO happy that I just sat with a smile on my face for awhile. The ending was PERFECTION. I am so happy I got ahold of an ARC of this book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great romance so go pre-order it now! You will NOT be disappointed. I give Rock Addiction five out of five stars!

Voice of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn Review

On one side of the border lies the modern world: the internet, homecoming dances, cell phones. On the other side dwell the ancient monsters who spark humanity's deepest fears: dragons. Seventeen-year-old Kay Wyatt knows she's breaking the law by rock climbing near the border, but she'd rather have an adventure than follow the rules. When the dragon Artegal unexpectedly saves her life, the rules are abruptly shattered, and a secret friendship grows between them. But suspicion and terror are the legacy of human and dragon interactions, and the fragile truce that has maintained peace between the species is unraveling. As tensions mount and battles begin, Kay and Artegal are caught in the middle. Can their friendship change the course of a war?

This book was kind of slow paced which was really disappointing. It started to pick up at the end but I can't really say that I was happy with it. The story was just starting to get good when it ended. I absolutely loved the dragons in the story but everything else seemed to fall short. Also, the story ended in a terrible cliffhanger and there isn't a hint of a sequel, and having a book end in a cliff hanger without the promise of a sequel really got me angry. The story line was extremely interesting and it still kept me reading even when the writing was a little dull. I can't say I would recommend this book to anyone but the story really was interesting. I would give this book three out of five stars.

On The Plus Side by Tabatha Vargo Review!

Big girls need love, too, but at what cost? Lilly is loaded, not only with money, but with weight. Both things she could do without. But even with her undesired millionaire status, she doesn’t hold on to false hopes of finding true love. So when a sexy stranger comes into her life dripping with seduction, she finds it hard to resist. The bigger they are the harder they fall and Lilly falls straight through the floor in love with Mr. Sexy. Too bad he’s there for all the wrong reasons. The chance of losing it all will make you do some crazy things and Devin’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep his life together. All seems lost when out of nowhere he’s approached by a Millionaire Momma with an offer he can’t refuse. But even a womanizer like Devin has a heart and when the short, chunky girl with the carefree attitude breaks through his icy façade, he finds that losing everything takes on a whole new meaning.

On The Plus Side is probably one of my favorite adult contemporary novels ever. Books featuring plus sized girls, like myself, are my guilty pleasure and I was not disappointed at ALL with this book. As soon as I began reading I knew that I was in for an emotional read. I love books where the main character is a little insecure and afraid to trust men because that's how I am, and I can relate to that. Relating to a character is extremely important to me and I really related to Lilly. The emotions this book made me feel had my heart literally aching for Lilly and Devin. This isn't a book you read to take your mind off of things, this is a book that makes you feel something. Books that cause such strong emotions are books worth reading, and I can tell you that I stayed up all night reading this book because it was that good. I really loved everything about this book from the sweet romance, to the emotional ending, and even the lies that were told. I hate to say it but I also love it when a male character does something terrible, realizes what he has lost, and is forced to beg for forgiveness. A little humility never hurt anyone, right? It makes stories all that more interesting and this book DEFINITELY keeps you interested. If you are looking for an adult novel full of romance, emotions, betrayal, and ultimately, happiness then On The Plus Side is a book you need to pick up! I give it five out of five stars!

Measuring Up by Nyrae Dawn Review!

Seventeen-year-old Annabel Conway is tired of the Hillcrest High School elite making her life miserable because she’s not a size two. This summer, she's hiring a personal trainer to help her lose weight. Annabel doesn’t expect her trainer to be a gorgeous guy around her age. Boys like Tegan are jerks. They pretend to like girls like her so they can make an idiot out of them. Been there, done that. Totally not going there again. She kind of hates him on principal. Blond. Muscular. Funny. It doesn’t help that he knows her measurements! Soon, Tegan's so much more than that. He’s the boy who teaches her to box when she has a bad day. Who jogs with her and lets her set the pace. Who kisses her until she melts. He makes her feel beautiful regardless of what the scale says. Unlike her mom, he doesn’t expect perfection, and he doesn't try to shield her from the world like her dad and best friend. Tegan likes her the way she is. But what happens when he’s not there? He can’t always be there… Will Annabel be able to stand on her own and learn that she already measures up? That her worth doesn’t lie in what the world thinks, the scale says, or even what Tegan tells her—but in herself?

I love the fact that someone in YA is finally writing about plus sized girls. We need more diverse books like this and I hope to see more of them in the future. That being said, this story is so raw and heartfelt that my heart hurt for Annabel because I knew what it felt like to be bullied and to want to change yourself for others. Annabel's story really struck home and even if I didn't experience the same things she did in the story I feel like others can take something out of this book too. This is a book that you will highly enjoy reading but it will also stir up emotions and leave you thinking about yourself. I loved how Annabel developed throughout the story. I'm not one to really focus on character development but the way Annabel developed by the end was really inspiring. Tegan was also written with raw feelings. Some YA novels tend to glamorize guys, duh that's why we like them so much, but Tegan is full of issues that he needs to fix himself and he is written with such strong feelings and emotions. I really wish I had a Tegan of my own now. I also love how Annabel and Tegan interacted; their love for each other was so sweet it had my heart melting. There are so many amazing aspects of this book and I don't really think I can do them justice. I admit that I shed a tear or two while I read Measuring Up, but I loved every minute of it. It's a book I can see myself rereading a lot, and I cannot wait to read more of Nyrae's work. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book that will lay your heart bare and make you think. I give it five out of five stars!

Plus by Veronica Chambers Review

The perfect romantic makeover story about an every-girl whose dream comes true . . . Beatrice Wilson is our lovable Cinderella, who just got dumped by her very first boyfriend and put on twenty-five pounds. But then she's discovered as a plus model. In the eyes of pop culture, Bee is Jessica Alba and then some! Now she must vanquish skinny rivals, fend off sleazy photogs, and banish jealous frenemies in her rise to superstardom. All the while, she's torn between her first love and the surprisingly sincere up-and-coming rapper she tutors in calculus. But what's better than finding your prince charming? Finally learning to love yourself!

I really liked Plus. It was a little slow in the beginning, but that could just be because I was in a reading slump before hand but it picks up quickly! Plus is a super fun read and it is really inspiring. It is very rare to find a book, especially in the YA genre, featuring a plus sized heroine, and I believe there should be more books like Plus. This isn't a book about a plus sized girl's romance, but a book about one girl accepting herself for who she is and showing the world that being plus sized is beautiful. I was cheering for Bee from the beginning and I was never disappointed. Although, this book doesn't focus on Bee's romance I was in love with Kevin and wished there had been more written about their relationship. Kevin was so drool worthy and that ending?! I was screeching with happiness. I can't believe more people haven't talked about this book because it's such a fun and unique read. I highly recommend it to anyone, honestly. I give it four out of five stars.

Landline by Rainbow Rowell Review

Georgie McCool knows her marriage is in trouble. That it’s been in trouble for a long time. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply — but that almost seems beside the point now. Maybe that was always beside the point. Two days before they’re supposed to visit Neal’s family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can’t go. She’s a TV writer, and something’s come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles. She knows that Neal will be upset with her — Neal is always a little upset with Georgie — but she doesn’t expect to him to pack up the kids and go home without her. When her husband and the kids leave for the airport, Georgie wonders if she’s finally done it. If she’s ruined everything. That night, Georgie discovers a way to communicate with Neal in the past. It’s not time travel, not exactly, but she feels like she’s been given an opportunity to fix her marriage before it starts . . . Is that what she’s supposed to do? Or would Georgie and Neal be better off if their marriage never happened?

This book was one of my most anticipated books of 2014 and I expected so much from Landline. However, I was severely disappointed. The book was so slow, I often got bored and had to put it down, which is unlike me. In addiction to that, the ending didn't satisfy me at all. In the end, there was no solution to the main character's conflict in my opinion, and I didn't see a point to the main character's struggle in the story if there wasn't a solution. The only good thing I found in this book was when we got to see how two characters from her previous books were doing, and I was so happy that little tidbit was in there. I wish I could say this book is one of my favorites but sadly, it's far from it. I give it two out of five stars.

Going Down In Flames by Chris Cannon Review

A normal girl would get a party for her sixteenth birthday not news that she is a dragon shifter. Bryn was lucky enough to get the latter. Not only is she a dragon shifter, but she is also  the only crossbreed in existence. Now Bryn is being forced to attend a boarding school for dragons that's full of people who hate her just because she is alive. Bryn is the only crossbreed at the Institute of Excellence which means that all eyes are on her, but Zavien's eyes are the only eyes that make her stomach flutter. Zavien has plans to change the way the dragon council runs things and Bryn is the key to changing it all. However, Bryn will not have it easy because her days will be filled with threats, insults, and a flying fire ball or two. But nothing scares her more than falling in love with someone she can't have.

I loved every second of this book, and not surprisingly, I read it in one sitting. I laughed until my stomach hurt, and I cheered for Bryn like I've never cheered for a main character before. Bryn is a main character that you can admire and one that doesn't take crap from anyone. She also has a slight temper, which lets be honest, as a redhead myself I can relate to. I also loved Zavien and Bryn's romance. I definitely wish he were real so I could have him. I was never bored when reading this book. There was non stop action and every turn had me guessing what would happen next. The romance had me melting, and THE DRAGONS, GUYS. The dragons were on point and I absolutely LOVED them. No only did this book have me laughing and cheering for the main character, but it also had an undertone of seriousness about standing up for yourself which I loved. Chris is an author who I will be putting on my auto-buy list for sure. She writes with an intensity that I really admire. I could rave about this book until I'm blue in the face, but as someone who is supper picky about her books, know that I am serious when I say that this is an amazing book. I NEED THE SEQUAL NOW! It has definitely found its spot on my favorites shelf. It give it five out of five stars!
